Klubb Död in collaboration with PlusOne proudly presents: Paris 25th anniversary

Paris celebrates 25 years with 2 reunion gigs They made the DIY concept a religion, turned down major record labels and had an ironing board as a synth stand. It's about the indie pop band Paris from Stockholm, who broke through on the alternative music scene in the early 00s. Now they're back with two reunion gigs at Kollektivet Livets scen on November 6th and November 7th at The Abyss in Gothenburg.

With ZTV and P3 hits like Streetlights and Disco Fever, they created their own musical universe where emotion, melody and playfulness meet. With influences from indie pop, new wave and alternative rock, Paris established itself on the Swedish music map as an energetic live band with a strong identity and artistic creativity. The band consists of: Emma Nylén on vocals and keyboards (also known as the artist EMMON) Annika Mellin (now Thorell) on vocals and guitar (known from This Diamond Ring and The Mad Men Band) Mattias Svensson on bass (also a member of The Exploding Boy) Johan Efraimsson on drums.

Fredrik Strage: – I heard Paris' first demo collection "Greatest hits Vol 1" in 2001 and interviewed them in DN the following year in an article about future pop stars. They said that their favorite color was "neon brown", that their favorite chord was A minor and that they wanted to write songs about "falling in love, partying or fantasizing about people you've seen on TV". I remember Paris as one of the most likeable bands of the early 2000s. Over the years, Paris has released their own demo collections and several acclaimed studio albums: Yellow Eden (2003), Secrets on Tape (2005) and The Landlord Is Kind Enough to Let Us Have Our Little Sessions (2007). Their EP Les Amis De Paris and singles like Hey Sailor and Rainy Day in London have become favorites among fans of Swedish indie pop. In the fall of 2026, it will be 25 years since their debut performance at the Hultsfredsfestivalen demo stage. Emma about their first gig: We spread our music through home-burned CD demos that we handed out and sent to everyone we could think of. Suddenly, Rockparty got in touch and wanted us to play at the Hultsfredsfestivalen demo stage. We had never performed live as Paris before, so we recruited Johan as a drummer, rehearsed like crazy – and three weeks later we were on stage together for the very first time. For over a decade they toured Scandinavia and Germany, and even made a brief stop in Belarus. They appeared on German TV, ended up on Aftonbladet's list and had songs included in Swedish films such as Fröken Sverige. Despite all this, the indie image remained intact – mainstream was simply never their thing.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their first gig, Paris is now making a live comeback with two unique gigs at Kollektivet Livet in Stockholm on November 6th and November 7th at The Abyss in Gothenburg – this time considerably more experienced than that sunny June day in 2001. Annika says: – Many have asked us where we went. Life got in the way, but we have always been close friends, continued to create music and played in other constellations. After several years of requests and encouragement from friends and fans, we feel eager to be on stage together again. We love our little band and love playing together – and we know that you also want to experience this, so here we go! Paris promises a nostalgic trip back to the early 00s and will play all of their most requested songs.
